People who think back to my grandmother know exactly what she looked like. A small nice lady, white hair, always in heels and with her red little hat on. That’s exactly true. That’s what she looked like, because I remember her wearing this hat my whole life when she stepped outside the house. My grandmother was a real lady and therefore hats should be included. I loved the hat so much that I regularly took her hat and tried it on in front of the mirror in the hallway. I would always walk back in with the hat on and shout out that it looked so good on me. When she passed away, I got the hat and it’s a very nice remembrance to my dearest grandmother.
1 maand agoby mrsstillettoYou know you are getting old when you are excited to see a new garden. When I was young I couldn’t be bothered. “Really dad, do we HAVE to look at another castle garden? It’s hot, can’t we just go to the beach?” But my father had a green thumb and his love led him to castles. She (my mother) wanted to see the castle, and he wanted to see the garden. Thanks to his love for green things, both my brother and I have been brought up with working in the garden - though as a kid, I usually
1 maand agoby mrsstillettoToday 13 years ago… I had my first date with this cute guy. This is us last summer at the racetracks in Chantilly. That’s something he likes to do: going to the casino, play blackjack, or have a go at horse races (he had never done it before, but ‘when in Rome’). It’s not my cup of tea, but those are things we do for each other. He goes to castles with me, I go to casinos with him. And we let go of each other. He does things that he likes, I do things that I like. He goes
2 dagen agoby mrsstillettoWhen the leaves start to fall... When western countries start to get into the autumnal or fall happiness and festivities (pumpkin spice, soup, Halloween, Thanksgiving)... When the world is getting colder and crisp air in the morning shows little smokey tails of your breath... I tend to turn inward, ask myself what I need and try to live slow. What brings me joy in this time of year is art, good company, warm tea, music, hot chocolate, blankets, and candles. It has been a very busy year. As in that word that I dislike using, but it is true. With
2 maanden agoby mrsstillettoI have just reached the end of the sixth week of my Masters year. Though the entire culture of Instagram is based on happy happy joy joy, I would like to emphasize the normal life. Because life is balanced. It’s not always rainbows and butterflies. Sometimes it’s hard work! I have gone through the rabbit hole of university again and sometimes it is hard to find the pause button and push it. Because in academic life, at least in the studies that I am following, there is no such thing as taking it slow. Studying next to a household to
