I love music tag

I saw this tag online on the blog of Wat zij zegt and was inspired to make a post about this tag too. So… here we go!

Do you have an iPod, MP3, or…?
I have an iPod and perhaps somewhere in a drawer I can find an old MP3 player too. But I mostly use my old iPod. When I go on vacation or just to plug in into my stereoset.

Can you play any instruments?
No. Well, a little bit… I had to learn to play a recorder when I was in high school. I hated it. Really hated it. So much that I always said that my music teacher could stick that recorder in a place where the sun don’t shine.

What’s your favorite band/singer?
My favorite singer is most definately Rufus Wainwright. My favorite band is a little bit a difficult thing.. Keane, Scissor Sisters, or Franz Ferdinand? I think I go for Keane.

Do you have an all time favorite album?
Yes, Hopes and Fears of Keane. Whenever we travel we have this CD with us. Because it soothes when you need it and it makes you hyperactive when you need it.

Favorite song?
That depends on my mood but my all time favorite, never wrong song is:
I’ve Got Life from Nina Simone.
It’s so full of positive energy that it always makes me smile. And you feel her believing every word she is saying. And I believe in her words too. Nothing matters but your health and happiness. You don’t need any possesions, you’ve got life.

Have you ever entertained for an audience?
I have! I loved to sing, so I sung on the wedding of my niece. I have performed many times for musicals too but that was when I was younger. I think the last time was with my last performance: my self written cabaret show for theaterschool. I once made a CD with my school actually. It was for Christmas and I had a solo. Made me proud back then.

Have you ever written a song?
I think I made it up to 4 lines. Writing songs is not in my genes. I stick with blogging 🙂

If you could sing with any artist, who would it be and why?
Frank Sinatra. That voice… whenever you hear him sing, you simply KNOW it’s Frank. I mean, I just love listening to him. So maybe a duet might sound very good too.
But if it has to be an artist alive right now, than I would like to choose Barbra Streisand. Her voice is warm and beautiful. And I love all the songs in the movie Funny Girl, especially ‘My Man’.
Always aim high, right? Well it’s because I think my voice might not be compatible with Rufus’ voice. So there you have it, I don’t have an answer. Rufus or Barbra. Wow! At least I have hopes and dreams 🙂
